1 Introduction

Recent years, the increasing popularity of social media has provided a platform for consumers to publish their views and experience of a product or service, which is known as user-generated content (UGC) that contains a wealth of products or service feedback information [1]. By analyzing the contents, enterprises could obtain the valuable information such as product competitiveness, quality, flaws, and market dynamic, which provides decision support for enterprise product or service management [2]. The research on extracting product and market information from UGC becomes popular in recent years. However, abstract useful information from UGC, which contained heterogeneity, scarcity and large-scale data [3], is a costly and difficult task for enterprises. Especially incorporating the latest information into the enterprises’ existing knowledge base, has become a new challenge [4]. This means an open knowledge management system is needed to enhance the market intelligence processing capability of enterprises, dealing with the massive realtime data of UGC. According to this problem, we discussed the process of knowledge discovery, convert and management in UGC, with data fetched from websites and provided by the enterprise, by using natural language processing (NLP) and semantic Web tools, we propose an open knowledge integration management approach based on UGC in multiagent interaction environment. The main contributions are as follows: (1) propose a model for knowledge integration management based on UGC, (2) propose a knowledge expansion method according to the real-time information extracted from UGC, (3) apply them to the innovation of smart phone products.

1. Introduction

Uncertainty appears in different forms and affects decisions making. Frequently, information may be incomplete, imprecise, fragmentary, not fully reliable, vague, contradictory, or deficient in some other way [1]. Much of this uncertainty can be handle using Fuzzy logic type 1 [2], Fuzzy logic type 2 [3,4] or Intuitionistic fuzzy logic [5,6]. The theory of fuzzy logic provides a mathematical theory to capture the uncertainties associated with human cognitive processes, such as thinking and reasoning. The conventional approaches to knowledge representation lack the means for representing the meaning of fuzzy concepts. As a consequence, the approaches based on first order logic do not provide an appropriate conceptual framework for dealing with the representation of commonsense knowledge, since such knowledge is by its nature both lexically imprecise and non-categorical. The development of fuzzy logic was motivated in large measure by the need for a conceptual framework which can address the issue of lexical imprecision. Intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs), proposed [5–7] as a generalization of the traditional fuzzy sets introduced by Zadeh [2], have the property to incorporate the uncertainty of the information. The IFSs offer a new possibility to represent imperfect knowledge and, therefore, to describe in a more adequate way many real problems. Such problems appear when we face with human opinions involving two or more answers of the type: “Yes”, “Not”, “I do not know”, “I am not sure”, etc. Many applications have highlighted the superiority of intuitionist fuzzy logic compared to traditional fuzzy logic; in the following we mention some of them. In [8] a new approach for fuzzy inference in intuitionistic fuzzy system applied to monitoring a non-linear dynamic plant were described. In [9] an optimized method to reduce the points number to be used in order to identify a person using fuzzy fingerprints is described. The design of an intuitionistic fuzzy logic controller for heater fans on the basis of intuitionistic fuzzy systems were presented in [10]. In [11] an intuitionistic fuzzy logic controller to determine washing time for a washing machine is developed. Because the conventional traffic controller is unable to solve a set of problems (for instance, the congestion at the intersection) in [12] an intelligent transport system based of intuitionistic fuzzy logic is proposed. In [13] a method to construct type-1 intuitionistic fuzzy inference that is able to handle more uncertainty than type-1 fuzzy inference system and performs faster than a type-2 fuzzy inference system were described. The results show that the intuitionistic fuzzy inference system performs better than other methods. Many works have been dedicated to improving the architectures and theory used in the construction of control systems. For instance, in [14] a new general procedure is proposed to construct the membership and non-membership functions of the fuzzy reliability using time-dependent intuitionistic fuzzy sets and in [15] an approach for graphically representing intuitionistic fuzzy sets for their use in Mamdani fuzzy inference systems were proposed. The importance of intuitionistic fuzzy sets is explained, also, in [16] was proved that any type-2 fuzzy set Aˆ can be represented by intuitionistic fuzzy set A* g . Some questions appear.

1 Introduction

It has been over 200 years since European engineers first applied gravel piles to consolidate sedimentary soft soil in the early nineteenth century (Hughes and Withers 1974). The technology has been widely used and rapidly developed in the consolidation treatment of soft soil foundation. The lateral constraining force generated by gravel piles constrained by the confining forces of surrounding soil can to a certain extent improve the bearing capacity of the composite foundation of gravel piles. However, bulging damage, overall shear or sliding failure, and punching failure frequently occur on gravel pile composite foundations (Zhao et al. 2011). In addition, the lateral constraint is low due to the swallow burial depth so that bulging deformation failure happens within the pile top in the depth one to three times of the pile diameter (Murugesan and Rajagopal 2009). To solve this problem, numerous scholars have carried out lots of researches on consolidation technologies of new gravel pile composite foundations. For example, composite foundations of discrete gravel materials with horizontal multilayer reinforcement, that is, foundations with multilayer geotechnical grilles well restrict the lateral deformation (Alamgir et al. 1996; Poorooshasb et al. 1996; Hasan et al. 2012). Piles are wrapped by using sleeves made from synthetic materials and hoop stirrups are set to restrict bulging deformation (Zhou and Zhang 1997; Zhuang et al. 2016). In addition, composite foundations of discrete gravel materials with geotechnical grilles set on the top of foundations for reinforcement show better bearing capacities than those of ordinary gravel pile composite foundations (Wang and Pi 2011; Deb and Mohapatra 2013). Aiming at the characteristic that bulging deformation is likely to occur on the top of gravel piles, the study puts forward a consolidation technology for the new composite foundation to further enrich the theory and engineering practice of gravel pile composite foundations. The new composite foundation is constructed by pouring concrete into the upper part of the gravel pile to make the concrete grout permeate to the bottom of the gravel piles, thus forming a concretegravel pile composite foundation. The proposal of the new composite foundation supplements the theoretical research system of composite foundations and provides important theoretical reference and engineering guiding significance.

1 Introduction

Soil ultimate bearing capacity (qu) is indicated as the least pressure that would cause shear stress failure of the supporting soil immediately below and adjacent to the foundation [1]. The ultimate bearing capacity is also known as the limited settlement of foundation. The importance of this geotechnical term is its major requirement within the foundation design satisfaction. For any geotechnical engineering work (e.g., construction), the allowable qu is controlled by the amount of settlements and their criteria [2]. qu is usually computed via either experimentally or manual calculations through analytical procedure (i.e., empirical formulation). Based on the exist state-of-the-art literature, it has been observed that BC for soil which was proposed by [3] is based on homogenies criteria and on manual calculation method that can be not practically well organized. Several formulas have been proposed by several scholars to compute the BC, such as Terzaghi [3], Meyerhof [4], Hansen [5], and Kumbhojkar [6]. The conceptual theory of all those researches is based on the footing geometry and the shearing resistance angle. The current paper focuses on the utility of the k-nn model as an intelligent approach to predict bearing capacity of soil under shallow strip foundation loading. Soft computing techniques are valuable intelligence models that have been remarkably in various engineering applications in comparison with the classical methods that are difficult to pursue or capture the high complicated relationship between parameters [7–11]. Based on the historical researches conducted in predicting bearing capacity, several studies accomplished the modeling utilization the soft computing techniques [12–16]. In 2005, the most primitive study was conducted in predicting the ultimate bearing capacity using artificial neural network via two main algorithms: backpropagation and radial basis function [17]. The used experimental data belong to shallow foundation on reinforced cohesion-less soil. In summary, the findings approved that the application of ANN outperformed the traditional methods. Another study was conducted for the same application using multiple layer perceptron (MLP) algorithm [18]. The investigated MLP algorithm was verified with the theoretical computation and showed a very comprehended modeling. An adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system is inspected to capture the correlation between the basic status of soil foundation system and qu [19]. The discovery of the study showed a high potential of the inspected soft computing model to model the bearing capacity. Ornek et al. [20] estimated bearing capacity of circular footing placed on soft clay layer soil. The modeling constructed using artificial neural network (ANN) model. The data set was obtained from an extensive series of field test (i.e., seven different sizing dimensions used as input parameters). The results of ANN model are evaluated with MLR model.

Introduction

Proper estimation of bearing capacity is a key factor in designing geotechnical structures. There is famous equation for estimating the bearing capacity of structures; however, when it comes to thin-walled foundations, to the best of authors’ knowledge, few studies proposed analytical bearing capacity equations for thin-walled foundations. This is generally attributed to the fact that utilization of thin-walled foundation is not common. Thin-walled foundations are used in soils with low strength at the surfacelike costal projects. Therefore, in the recent past years, attempts have been made to predict the bearing capacity of this kind of foundations using relatively new techniques like artificial intelligence [1]. Several authors also showed that when possible thin-walled foundations perform better compared to the conventional footings in terms of bearing capacity. In this regards, Rezaei et al. [1] conducted an experimental study to investigate the effect of walls on the bearing capacity of foundations. Their results suggest when wall length-to-footing width ratio (Lw/W) increases from 0.5 to 1.12, the bearing capacity of the foundation is enhanced 0.5 times. Their footing load tests were conducted in both loose and dense poorly graded sands. Alaghbari and Mohamedzein [2] and Eid et al. [3] mentioned that incorporation thin walls for the spread foundation provide an enclosure in which the soil is confined which consequently leads to an enhancement in the bearing capacity of foundations. According to Alaghbari and Mohamedzein [2] study, when walled foundation is used instead of the conventional foundations, enhancement of bearing capacity in the range of 1.5–3.9 is expected. In another study, Al-Aghbari and Dutta [4] reported that providing thin walls leads to an increase in the bearing capacity from 11 to 70%. Mana et al. [5] stated that the failure mechanism of a footing with two structural skirts is similar to a conventional footing which has an embedded depth equal to skirt lengths. Their conclusion recommends the importance of thin walls in increasing the bearing capacity. Similar conclusions were drawn by Nazir et al. [6, 7]. Eid [8] also stated that providing thin walls can lead to improvement in the bearing capacity by a factor in the range of 1.4–3. Wakil [9] and Wakil [10] also observed remarkable enhancement in the bearing capacity of foundations when structural skirts are used. In a more recent study, Momeni et al. [11] concluded that providing thin walls for spreads foundations can improve their bearing capacities by a factor of 2. Saleh [12] stated that skirted foundations perform better compared to the conventional spread footings. Fattah et al. [13] also stated that the use of skirted foundations is common more especially when the likelihood of scour from water is high.

Introduction

Our perception of natural killer (NK) cells has transformed dramatically since their discovery just over 40 years ago.1–5 Once viewed as a monolithic fraction of peripheral blood lymphocytes with an innate ability to find and kill aberrant cells, NK cells have since been revealed as a highly diverse lymphocyte population within which idiosyncratic education, regulation and activation processes govern subset function and prominence. Subsets distinguished by variable constellations of regulatory receptors diverge further along functional scales delineated by the presence and affinity of polymorphic ligands. Genetic, stochastic, deterministic and epistatic factors interact to produce up to 30 000 discrete NK cell subsets.6 We now know that the ontogenetic NK cell repertoire is dynamically modified by environmental influences (Fig. 1). As with the responses of B and T lymphocytes, NK cell engagement in an immune response reshapes the baseline repertoire, in part by introducing an adapted, preferentially selected, memory-like population with distinct phenotypic and functional features. Selective expansion, together with acquisition of novel functional and phenotypic characteristics, is common to memory B, T and NK cells alike. However, to our knowledge, only NK cells mature into immune memory cells independently of antigen recognition through somatically generated, clonotypic receptors. Therefore, the selection mechanisms underlying dynamic remodelling of NK cell repertoires and NK cell maturation into memory cells remain mostly obscure. This review will address accumulating evidence for antigen-dependent and -independent NK cell maturation and memory formation. The response against murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) is the first and best characterized example of antigen-driven activation and maturation of NK cells into memory cells. We will review aspects of the NK cell response to MCMV, followed by a series of as yet mechanistically unexplained examples of NK cell memory and antigen specificity in mice and primates, followed by a description of human memory-like NK cell development, primarily in response to human CMV (HCMV) infection. Of note, the process by which NK cell memory forms in the case of HCMV infection appears to have less in common with MCMV infection than initially expected. Finally, we will speculate on how features of NK cells, viruses and other antigens might interact to confer a semblance of antigen specificity independent of somatically rearranged clonotypic receptors.

Accessibility, the ease of reaching destinations, is a key land use and transport performance measure (Hansen, 1959) that has been used in various studies to assess the equitable distribution of public transport service in a region (Bocarejo and Oviedo, 2012; Foth et al., 2013; Golub and Martens, 2014; Guzman et al., 2017; Manaugh and El-Geneidy, 2012). Low accessibility to jobs has been shown to be related to higher risks of unemployment, especially in low-income areas (Korsu and Wenglenski, 2010). Furthermore, the absence of public transport in a neighborhood, even temporarily, can significantly impact unemployment rates in areas where people  depend on it to reach their desired destinations (Matas et al., 2010; Sari, 2015; Tyndall, 2015). Originally, accessibility studies have been conducted at the regional level to investigate the relationship between transport systems, land use development and economic indicators such as dwelling prices and labor outcomes (Coppola and Nuzzolo, 2011; Hansen, 1959; Levinson, 2007). To explore these economic trends at a macroscopic level, accessibility studies have typically considered the generalized costs of travel which include all available modes (Coppola and Nuzzolo, 2011). More recently, accessibility measures have been used to conduct social equity assessments. In such cases, studies have looked at accessibility in a more disaggregated manner, namely by focusing on a specific transportation mode and/or groups of users. For example, recent studies on accessibility and equity concentrated on the distribution of the public transport system for different income groups (Delmelle and Casas, 2012; Legrain et al., 2016). In this paper, accessibility by public transport for people in a wheelchair is considered. This specific population is studied because the public transport network that is available for a person in a wheelchair can be significantly different from the network available to the rest of the population, due to physical barriers such as stairs in subway stations or inaccessible buses. Such barriers and the associated difficulty with reaching employment opportunities impose significant challenges on a vulnerable group of people that have been found to be more likely to be unemployed or underemployed compared to the general population for a considerable time (BC Stats, 2009; Benoit et al., 2012; Lillie et al., 2013; Statistics Canada, 2016). To our knowledge, no previous study has considered the physical barriers present in a public transport network when measuring accessibility to jobs by public transport. Accordingly, this study presents a methodological approach to assess the level of accessibility to jobs using public transport for wheelchair users in the City of Toronto and the Island of Montreal, Canada on a typical weekday during the morning peak. We then contrast this level of accessibility with that of the general population, who we assume are able to access the entire public transport network. In particular, we examine job accessibility experienced by wheelchair users and the general population in the most socially vulnerable census tracts in both cities.

1. INTRODUCTION

Research and statistical figures often conclude that traffic accidents are an iceberg for comprehending the discrepancies of traffic management and entire transportation systems. Figures detailing traffic accidents in Indonesia, as is the case in many other countries, show significantly high numbers and severity levels; these types of totals are also evident in Jakarta, the highest-populated city in the country. Indonesia now has a population of more than 230 million people, and the country’s economic growth has given rise to increases in transportation demand and vehicle ownership. Similar figures are also evident in Jakarta, the capital, which has a population of almost 10 million people. The figures are even higher in the daytime due to commuters from the outlying areas and some supporting cities (i.e., Jabodetabek). We predict that Jakarta may have a population of around 12 million people during the daytime. With a road ratio of only less than 7%, the high vehicle growth rate and poor public transportation contribute to high-density road use. This problematic situation is hard to resolve as more than 90% of the available transportation modes are road-based. Figure 1 shows the numbers of traffic accidents in Indonesia over the last ten years (2004–2013). The table also indicates some classifications of accident severity: fatalities, severe injuries, and light injuries. Although fatalities and severe injuries are much fewer compared to light injuries, their numbers and trends are still high.

I. INTRODUCTION

SEMANTIC and episodic memories belong to the category of declarative memories, where the past, consciously experienced events and knowledge are stored and can be recalled or declared [1]. Thus, they are critical components of any cognitive system. The two memories differ in their organization and use. Semantic memory (SM) integrates sensory experiences and is responsible for the creation and recognition of concepts. It is grounded, and as such, integrates unconscious sensory inputs to recognizable objects and ideas. Episodic memory (EM) uses the concepts represented by the SM to record the personal history of events located in time and space. While SM is developed incrementally over time, EM is developed immediately upon consciously recognized events. The two memories are interdependent since episodes can only be consciously experienced after the SM recognizes them, while past episodes help to develop new knowledge stored in the SM, help to build associations between various objects and actions, and help to anticipate future events [2]. Until now, there has been no study of artificial neural networks implementing integrated architectures of semantic and episodic memories. This paper does it. Tulving [3] in his seminal paper defined the original concept of EM and contrasted it with SM. Both memories are essential for the retrieval of past experiences, learning, planning, and anticipation [4], [5]. Tulving [6] reiterated the distinction between EM and SM by taking into account required operations and awareness involved in retrieving information stored in each type of memory. In addition to episodic events containing what, where, and when information, EM accumulates one’s own past existence. This allows one to mentally revisit the past experiences while being aware that the recollection is related to earlier time [7]. In contrast, SM involves classification and recognition of objects without referring to where or when the event regarding them occurred. It refers to an individual’s knowledge and perception of its environment at the present time. SM provides a cognitive interpretation of the perceived objects and events, and is critical to having a conscious experience. EM plays an important role in support of cognitive functions such as: 1) representation of events in the spatio-temporal domain; 2) formation of concepts in SM; and 3) supervision of tasks in the implementation of goals [8]. Research on the hippocampus (the part of the brain where episodic memories are stored) indicates its importance for providing the context of the observed events. It plays a critical role in reinforcement learning, representing relationships between stimuli [9]. Using an SM, we can model some of the associative processes observed in biological nervous systems. An SM can bind together neuronal representations of trained data, so the relations between data could be expressed through connections and changing the sensitivity of neurons that specialize in recognizing various classes of objects. The major role of SM is to link objects that often occur in the same or similar context, and enable them to be recalled associatively [41].
