1. Introduction

During recent years, information communication and internet technologies are undergoing a dramatically fast development [1]. Thus the increasing demand for data processing caused a rapid growth in the data centers containing IT equipment, rack servers and related devices. It is reported that the total energy consumption in data centers doubled from 2005 to 2010 [2]. The IT devices are often of huge heat emissions and show high demands for temperature and humidity control in data centers, so that the cooling and air conditioning system is indispensable. According to a recent survey, the refrigeration and air conditioning system accounts for about 40 % of total electricity usage for data centers [3]. Therefore, in order to reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning is of great importance in energy efficiency for the whole data center. There are many effective ways to save cooling energy usage in data centers, such as indoor air distribution optimization, heat transfer enhancement for rack servers, thermal performance improvement of chillers and so on [4]. Zimmermann [5] applied the hot water system to refrigeration system in IT rooms and established the energy model. Ebrahimi [6] introduced different cooling systems according to working conditions and found that energy efficiency could be increased substantially through low grade energy recovery. Marcinichen [7] proposed the two phase cooling technologies and put forward the method to evaluate heat recovery ratio. In addition, free cooling is a novel and promising technology that can decrease the load ratio of electrical chiller and save cooling energy consumption accordingly, through making full use of natural free cooling source [8]. Because of the high efficiency and low emissions, free cooling technologies utilized in data centers causes more and more attentions during recent years. In this paper, four typical free cooling technologies and corresponding air conditioning systems are analyzed and compared, to show their mechanisms, main features, energy saving effects and applicable situations respectively. This work is of significance in guiding the design of refrigeration system with free cooling technologies for practical data centers.

Authentication on Devices That Maintain Continuous Physical Contact

Devices that maintain contact with the user can support new forms of biometric authentication. Most of these devices fall into two categories. Devices of the first category either contain an inertial measurement unit (IMU), which is comprised of an accelerometer and a gyroscope, or can have an IMU embedded quite easily. Devices of the second category contain a photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor, which is comprised of a few (often two or three) LEDs and a few (again, often two or three) light sensors. Both IMUs and PPG sensors can enable user authentication. Specifically, using the IMU, we can develop authentication techniques that are based on the principle that users frequently move their limbs in unique patterns throughout the time they use the device. An example of a well-known trait that differs across users is gait. If we can extract the patterns in the output of an IMU sensor due to the user’s unique gait, we can use simple machine learning techniques to learn these patterns and apply them to continuously authenticate the user based on gait. If such a technique was developed and put into practice, a device of the first category (worn by the user) could monitor the user continuously and frequently authenticate the user’s legitimacy before allowing the user to perform appropriate operations. For example, the watch in the Macbook Pro setting wouldn’t authenticate the attacker, which would prevent the Macbook Pro from being spuriously unlocked. Several behavioral biometrics solutions have been proposed that employ the IMU to authenticate users.1,2 Similarly, the PPG sensor provides an opportunity to study the PPG signal for unique patterns in blood flow rhythm. Researchers have shown that due to slight variations in every human’s heartbeat rhythm, echocardiogram (ECG) signals contain small information — but this is enough to indicate what’s unique to an individual user.3,4 Consequently, just by using the ECG signal, we can design user schemes to authenticate users. Although several ECG-based user authentication systems have been proposed, this technology has yet to achieve sufficient effectiveness to see widespread deployment. Because the PPG signal is generated based on the amount of blood flow in the user’s veins, which depends on how the user’s heart pumps blood, the PPG signal could contain enough information to enable user authentication. Using the PPG signal is particularly challenging, however, because this signal is sensitive to the motion of a person’s limbs: that is, the PPG measurement depends on the person’s speed of movement. Fortunately, most devices these days that come with a PPG sensor also come with an IMU. Therefore, we can potentially use information from the IMU sensors to measure the amount of motion of the limb and combine the two signals — or correct the measurement of the PPG sensor — to enable authentication.

I. INTRODUCTION

With the rapid development of the Internet in recent decades, all walks of life have been inseparable from the application of the Internet. The Internet helps people improve the quality of life and work efficiency. In order to meet the growing market demand, and constantly meet the process of social development, intelligent and convenient Internet of things on the basis of the Internet came into being. The study and development of Internet of Things applications, web and mobile, is on the increase. Applications, working with data obtained from different areas such as transportation, smart homes, health care, public services, industry and many others.[1] Internet of Things is a platform where every day devices become smarter, every day processing become intelligent, and every day communication become informative. While the Internet of Things is still seeking its own shape, its effects have already stared in making incredible strides as a universal solution media for the connected scenario.[2] With the transformation of the construction and management of the gradual progress of the school, the laboratory construction, maintenance and application management put forward higher and higher requirements, which urgently need to use advanced technology to standardize and strengthen the laboratory management. Promotion an open intelligent classroom management software in classroom is necessary.[3] To this end, we have designed and developed a laboratory intelligent management system based on the Internet of Things technology. The system is designed to integrate the computer technology, database technology and Internet technology including RFID technology and sensing technology. Making laboratory management more humane, standardized, and helping teachers to manage the laboratory easily. II. DESIGN PRINCIPLES In order to save energy and to implement the intelligent of the classroom management.[4] The management of the entire laboratory should follow the following principles: x Advanced, integrated principle. On the basis of the Internet of Things, to achieve the purpose of making relation between machines, between people and machines, and between machines and networks, to improve the overall system of the advanced, practical. It would greatly improve the efficiency of the entire system. At the same time, this form greatly improved the level of intelligent management, to achieve the concept of laboratory group management. x The principle of extensibility. For the current system management, we should make the management open and make cross-platform applications. So as to improve the overall control of diversity, greatly improve the control capacity. x The principle of safety. School management system is also a very important internal system. Greatly improve the safety performance and improve reliability is also necessary. x Practical principle. The design of the system should be corresponding to the needs of teachers and students.
